Most of what happens at BAISH happens between courses: events, hackathons, career support and a community that stays in touch.
Networking and social events with 50-80 people, about half of them newcomers. Every event is on our Luma calendar.
350+ members sharing opportunities, papers and events, with sub-groups on biosecurity and cybersecurity.
We host the Buenos Aires hub for Apart Research hackathons. A team from the 2026 Global South hackathon went on to BlueDot funding and helped found BAISH Labs.
One-on-ones with the directors, application sprints for fellowships like MARS, and travel support for EA Global. 16 members went to EAG London 2026.
A weekend for the organizing team and members joining it: strategy, one-on-ones and planning the year ahead.

Collaborative initiatives advancing AI safety across Latin America
Six-month, mentored AI safety research fellowship in Buenos Aires, funded by Coefficient Giving. Stipend of USD 700/month part-time or 1,400 full-time plus a compute budget. The first cohort's 6 scholars produced 3 ICLR 2026 workshop papers; the second cohort starts in October 2026.

Connecting researchers and policy-makers for safe artificial intelligence in Latin America. LANAIS maintains a directory of AI safety experts across the region and operates in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Frontier Artificial Intelligence Research
AI safety research organization at University of Buenos Aires advancing frontier AI safety through high-impact research. Focus areas include AI alignment, existential risks, governance, and systems evaluations.
